Living and working here in glorious Devon, we know just how lucky we are to have such great scenery, community and produce available on our doorstep.  And you might be surprised how many Devonshire brands you have actually heard about! Although Devon sounds small and rural, it turns out that us ‘Devonshire Dumplings’ are an industrious lot…

Ambrosia

From its roots here in beautiful Lifton in 1917, Ambrosia has become one of Devon’s most instantly recognisable brands.  They are proud to be a part of ‘The Red Tractor Scheme’ meaning that the milk they use can be traced back to the farm it comes from.  Their rice pudding and custard is some of the creamiest and tastiest around, which is why it’s one of the nation’s favourites.

Plymouth Gin

Created by Coates and Co in 1793, Plymouth Gin became a firm favourite with the troops of the Royal Navy, who enjoyed mixing it with lime for ‘medicinal purposes’ and took it all around the world with them.  The first ever recipe for a Dry Martini actually specified Plymouth Gin by name, and it is the only gin still around today that is named in numerous recipes in the Savoy Cocktail Book – which is to this day the gold standard of cocktail artistry.  With such an impressive calibre, it is only right that we offer Plymouth Gin in many of our own pre-made Devon Hampers, as well as a product available to be selected as a part of your own bespoke-made Devon Hamper.

Dartington Crystal

Started in 1967 by a group of experienced Swedish glassmakers, Dartington Crystal in rural North Devon is now the only crystal brand still producing in theUK. Working only with the finest natural minerals, their craftsmen are renowned for creating the most beautiful glassware.

Burts Crisps

Burts Crisps began in Devon fifteen years ago with a passion for natural, fresh ingredients and lots of enthusiasm.  To this day you won’t find an artificial ingredient in a bag of Burts Crisps and they are now popular sellers available up and down the country in big name stores such as Tesco, Waitrose, Boots and many more. You can also get your hands on a bag of Burts by popping them in one of our Make-Your-Own Hampers or selecting one of our fabulous pre-made luxury food hampers which features our favourite local crisps.

Dartmoor Breweries

England’s highest brewery located in the heart of Dartmoor National Park is 1465ft above sea level. Dartmoor breweries create the finest traditional cask ales, using authentic brewing techniques passed down over generations.  A strong local following soon saw the ales branching out into national territory and the brewery now produces over 2.5 million pints per year!  Obviously, here at Devon Hampers, we enjoy a real ale as much as anyone! And, naturally, we elected to include Dartmoor Breweries Jail Ale, Legend Ale and Dartmoor IPA in our hampers.  So now you can enjoy real Devon ale by post, wherever you may be.
