We all know that Devon is home to many fantastic ciders for which it is famed, but did you also know that Devon produces many superb wines?

That's right, as well as playing host to some of finest orchards in the country, it turns out that Devon's temperate climate and abundance of sheltered, south-facing slopes provide a hospitable home for vineyards too.

In fact, the region is ideal for growing a variety of grapes including, Reichensteiner, Bacchus and Auxerrios for the whites and Regent, Rondo, Dunkelfelder and the notorious Pinot Noir for the reds.

Here at Devon Hampers, we offer some wonderful locally produced wines, which are found in our delicious Devon Hampers, included in a make-your-own hamper, or purchased from our Devon Produce selection as individual bottles.  We are proud to offer wines from three different vineyards from across the region; Pebblebed, Sharpham and Yearlstone.

Pebblebed

Pebblebed is somewhat unique in that the vineyards near Exeter are run as a community project.  The idea was even featured on BBC's Dragon's Den and gained the support of Duncan Bannatyne.  So you can rest assured that the effort, work and love of the whole community goes into each bottle!

Sharpham

Sharpham's vineyards look over the banks of the River Dart near Totnes, one of the most picturesque regions of Devon.  Enjoying both national and international acclaim for their wine and cheese, Sharphams use a blend of traditional techniques and modern technology to ensure the best possible results.

Yearlstone

Yearlstone's vineyards are hosted on a natural wine-producing goldmine, with red-silt soil and natural protection from the elements due to its position  on a steep southerly slope of the River Exe, 200ft above sea level.  This produces the tastiest grapes which Yearlstone have used for years to create their distinguished fine wines.
