This year marks the year Her Majesty the Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a platinum Jubilee. After 70 years’ service, Queen Elizabeth II acceded the throne on 6th February 1952 at just 25 years old.
The Queen has held the throne for longer than any other monarch in British history and is also the longest serving female head of state. She has become a loved and respected figure not just in the UK but across the world. Her exceptional reign has seen her travel more than any other monarch, making numerous momentous international visits. She has been a major figurehead for the UK and the Commonwealth during times of enormous social change and is well known for her sense of duty and devotion to a life of service.
